Moved Wurlitzer 2610 across the country and unit will not lift records. I'm sure it's something simple. Unit makes selection, pops pin, rotates and stops in proper position, gear system reverses but does not lift arms for A or B side. It just sits there with the mech motor running. Any idea where to look?

First thing I would do is to check that the mechanism support shelf is still in the correct position, on all 4 springs--especially if you "moved it", without properly "bolting it down, for shipment" ! Once that's OK, see if the motor is actually turning the gear, or has the gear been stripped ? If that's OK, is the motor turning in the correct direction--is the clutch failing to engage? Has it been properly lubricated recently ? Ron Rich

Will check the springs yes the motors turning the gears look good the clutch does not engage.

If the ratchet pawl is not engaging, you will need to determine "why" ? Something "foreign" fell in there ? Lack of lubrication ?

This was a problem I experienced on a 2150. When the motor starts reversing, you should be able to take a screwdriver and very lightly press on the pawl to have it engage. (I admit to using my finger at first but amazingly realized it might not be a good idea before it was too late...very unusual for me). As soon as it catches all should work properly. It is kind of a pain to get to it to fix.

Yea--finger there AIN"T good ! Oil it and "work" the oil in, with the power OFF !!

Thanks for the tips! Down with the flu this weekend and out of town next. Besides moving it across the country it sat unused in the garage for two years while we sought a house to buy, I'm betting on the lube issue!

One hint: Use a heat gun if available to get the area warm enough that the old oil loosens and allows the new to flow into the ratchet-pawl assembly.

NO blowtorches though, just hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold the area.
