AFRICA- where was it made???

by shane » Sat Dec 01, 2007 2:09 am

Hi all,

I Picked up this copy of Africa, but it doesn't say where it was made. It has the usual publishing info, and that it's a 1982 CBS release, but no country of origin. I think it's the only 45 in my collection that doesn't say where it was pressed. I don't know if it was pressed here in Australia, or imported from America or somewhere else.
Has anybody else seen these, or got a copy in their collection?

It's listed for sale on this page --
http://eil.com/shop/ExtSearch.asp?DiscArtist=Toto

Here's what the ad says:

"COLLECTORS ITEM BACK IN STOCK
TOTO Africa (Scarce 1982 UK CBS limited edition 2-track 7" vinyl PICTURE DISC single featuring a map of the African continent cut to shape, also includes We Made It CBSA11-2510) -"

Out of curiosity, I googled CBSA11-2510 and came up with a number of hits. Many confirm that this was pressed in the UK.

Thank you Joe. It definately isn't an Australian pressing then, and being an American group, it's pretty safe to assume it is a U.S. pressing.

Don't play it automatically on a Dual 1003, 1004, 1005, or 1006.

On some other record changers, it would have to be placed on the spindle in a certain orientation to keep from fouling the changer's size sensor.
