AMI R 82 wallbox wiring

by jukeboxrobert » Mon Oct 07, 2013 9:31 pm

I have an AMI R-82 and I want to hook up a wallbox. I have a WRC wallbox, but it calls for a WRD. Are they interchangeable or do I need an interface unit or what. I can't seem to find much info on these. It will be freeplay ,just for a basement bar.

Robert, the WRC and R82 are not directly compatible.

To use the older electromechanical boxes on a digital phono requires a Code Converter.

Rowe offered at least two different types and you must be sure to state what items you are intending to connect together.

You'll also need a transformer supplying the 28 volts AC at approx 2 amps or more to power the wallbox. Rowe offered this as a separate assembly.

I've no idea what a Code Converter costs now, but it is probably a lot less than the $500-$600 I was quoted back in the mid-nineties. Most of these systems have been retired since then.

Another approach is to buy a WRD. It will still need the power supply as above.

Hello Robert,

Rob is correct you would need a code converter kit Rowe Ami part number 205-15336 to use the WRC wall box, I have my doubts if you would be able to find one.

More inferfaces were available for the R-84 onwards jukeboxes.

Regards
Alan
