It's kind of hard to tell from the photo, but my guess would be a Type C Victor -- http://victor-victrola.com/Victor%20C.htm -- which used a spindle clamp. (I can't tell if the spindle is grooved for the screw-on clamp or not.) (Index of Victor models -- http://victor-victrola.com/new_page_2.htm )

Thanks for your help! The same day you responded, the same day I got more pics. I think that it is indeed a Victor C.

I've noticed something discouraging though. Can you guys help... I've posted 3 pictures, the last one is what is troubling me. In the last photo, that extra hole scares me. Does this mean it's not the original motor and ultimately worthless?

I think it is the hole for the button which releases the motor board from the base. I'm not familiar with the Victor range, but HMV & Zonophone certainly used these catches.

Well, I ended up buying it. (not at the Wayne phono show) ...and I love it, sounds great! So, this is a 1 minute clip of my "new" Victor C in action. I apologize for the poor sound quality as it was recorded on a small digicam. It does not do it justice for the live sound! The name of the song is "Boulanger March" by Albert Muller.

(I don't know how to get actual video to appear, so that's the link)

It's probably a good thing you didn't. With my dial up modem, it took about ten minutes to download that one minute clip.

The wait, by the way, was worth it. :D

What a great machine!! The open horn tone armless machine is about the only style I don't have, and I would love to get one. So much so, I actually built my own out of spare parts, and bits I made  Unfortunately, here in Australia, machines like this just never come along.
Do these have an exhibition soundbox? Sounds like it really pumps out the volume. It looks like its in good condition, and is all original. You should be proud to own it..

BTW: I know what you mean about the sound from a digicam. I did a couple vid's on youtube of my re-entrant, and it sounds awful compared to the real thing.

Hehe, i'm still learning so I had to look up what an exhibition soundbox was. ...and yes, I have one. It is in good condition except for that hole as mentioned in the earlier above posts. I'm not sure If I could replace whatever is supposed to be in there. It's def my fav unit so far tho. :-p

You might be lucky, and find a motor board release button, but they don't come along often. Theres not much to them, so you might be able to make one. Heres a pic of the inside "works", and the round plate in which it hooks. More than likely, the round plate will still be on the underside of the motorboard.
