Hi all: can get 125 watt amp from r84 and trying to clean up other boxes that used 64 watt amp. is it compatable with models r81 through r-83. the connectors look the same. but not sure if there are internal changes that make it not feasable. Thanks. Mark

Hello Mark,

The two amplifiers are the same with regards to the sockets used on the mute and speakers but this is the only similarity the 125 watt has an inversed output and the phono input is stanndard rather than being reversed on the 64watt amplifier.

On the 125 watt amp if you look at the standard link plug that links the input and output stages there is three links, 1 to 3, 5 to 9 and 6 to 8.
If you link 2 to 3 and leave the other link alone you will have a conventional none inverted amplifier all you need to do is invert one side of the cartridge connections. On jukeboxes with the 64 watt amplifier fitted the cartridge wiring will be on one side black on rg, red on r (this is the red within the same screened cable) on lg is the other channel red l is the black (from the same screened cable).

The Rowe Ami method of phasing the input or output to give enhanced bass catches a number of people out. Some end users will put up with a poor sounding jukebox for years without knowing the difference until it is pointed out.

I hope the above helps.

Alan
