I mistakenly posted this to 78 & cylinder records so I am re-posting it here:
Last weekend I purchased a Victor Credenza X that had been sitting virtually untouched for the past 40 years. This is my first Victrola with an electric motor. After several persuasive squirts of WD40 the motor began to run very well. I played several records the first day and the following day I removed the motor board and properly oiled the motor. This motor runs very quiet until I mount it back into the cabinet. Then I get this hum that seems to resonate from the entire cabinet. It is not a REAL bad hum and the sound of the Credenza certainly drowns it out, but I would like to get it as quiet as possible. Any suggestions?
