Rock Ola Nostalgia CD8B Page Problem

by mark2474 » Tue Oct 15, 2013 6:09 pm

I have a Rock Ola Nostalgia CD8B (2003, Orange components). When it is powered on after sitting for awhile all pages flip to position 00 and lock up. When I turn the jukebox off and back on, they work again. I have swapped CPU's, and pages are set to "Nostalgia". In Nostagia when you try to change settings on "Home Page" it says "Invalid Entry". Any suggestions? Thanks.

Problem solved! A call to Rock Ola Tech Support (Jorge) had a few ideas. He asked if the jukebox was grounded. The jukebox was plugged into an extension cord. I plugged it directly in the grounded wall outlet and the problem gone away.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for posting that !-- But, I hope you have more luck then me--I have seen several do this-
checked, and found the outlet to be just fine--"Defaulted", and reset the computer, only to have the same complaint a week or so later---
Can you post his "other suggestions" ?
Thanks,
Ron Rich

One other suggestion that he had was to check a diode in the wiring harness from the CPU to the page unit. He said that it was on the CPU end and sometimes it was covered with the shrink tubing. I had it plugged in daily for several months without a problem. The page problem arose after I moved the jukebox to the new owner's home.

Mak,
Thanks--the fact that it is in the harness, leads me to surmise that it is an "addition", or a "fix"--which may not be in all phono's---If any of my customers that had that problem calls me back, I now have a better answer --Ron Rich

After a little over a week with no problems, the pages have started acting up again. I have a spare page assembly harness that I can try and will let you know the results.
