I replaced the zener diode CR511 and now I have all three LEDs lit on the power supply. Fix one problem and a few other pop up..

When powered up the following LEDs are lit on the CCC.
Board Error - Seems to have detected an error but I can't see it since the display doesn't work yet.
System Error - My phonograph is out of order
+5VDC -- This is probably good to see?
The Eprom on my CCC says Rowe V 4.1.

I also have 5 V LED lit on the mech but no other LEDs lit.

Would the Board or System error be caused by the 3V battery? I'm getting only 1 V. I'm guessing that's part of the issue. Is there a kit to use a socket instead of soldering the battery in? It currently has a CR2430 battery.

The RoweLink Command LED is not lit, it doesn't flicker or anything. The manual just says CCC as the issue. So....could it be the battery or eprom as the issue?

Just noticed there is a small empty chip socket above P8, might be labeled U1. Should a chip be there?

Thanks,

Mike

Gotta Service Manual ?? Most all but the battery questions, are answered there---including a trouble shooting procedure.
Any 3 volt or above lith. battery will work--I usually install a "clip type button" battery holder--You should remove that bad bat., as it WILL leak !! You can run without a bat. , but this will generate an error ( see error guide in Service Man)., and of course the CCC will be un-able to "remember" ANYTHING-- Ron Rich

I'm going through the troubleshooting steps and still haven't come across my issue yet. Or my CCC is bad. I'm currently checking the different harness connections to see if get any lights or display to work.

I disconnected the Mech Controller and I get a display full of these characters L@. I'm assuming this is because there is no response from the Mech Controller. The display doesn't change when pushing any of the keys. With the Mech Controller connected I get no display. I need to go back an plug each one back in and see if anything changes.

The U14 Chip is labeled Rowe MEC CDMR V5.5 Would this need to be updated at some point?

Are they specific areas or components to redo the solder connection?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,
Disconnect all of the POWER plugs at the CCC except for the CCC feed. Turn on power, measure all voltages. Check to see if the "RoweLink" is flashing, and see if you have anything on the display--Turn power off, add one plug at a time-make any difference(s) ? MCC V 5.5 is near if not the last version used--should be fine. Ron Rich

quick question...looking at the schematic is P1 the power? P1 thru P4 look to be the same on CCC. Maybe I have a plug out of place

If you look at either the board itself, or the schematic, you should notice that they are all "common-ed"--
I usually place the incoming power plug onto the highest terminals as they tend to get warm. Didja check/clean reform (as needed) ALL pins, in the plugs in the power supply, CCC power section--Did you check the headers for stress cracks ? Ron Rich

With just the incoming power plug in I get the System, Board and 5V leds lit. The Rowelink led never comes on when plugging in more connectors one at a time. No matter what I do the System and Board leds are always on. Seems like I either have a power or CCC issue.

If the Rowe link does not light with only incoming power to the CCC, remove any "Rowe link" wires plugged in, and see if it now blinks ? ( what is the {part} number ON THE CCC BOARD ?) Ron Rich

The black case has part #40832201 and the CCC board has part#61031101. The eprom has Rowe V4.1. Soon as power is applied with just the incoming power cable connected Board and System error, Rowelink doesn't blink or come on.

Are there any common fail points on the CCC?

No, no "common fail points"--Other then the plugs/headers as stated earlier --
That's an early version of the CCC board ( cover # makes no difference as they somehow, "get switched", without anyone changing the number ?? ). Do you know if it has any of the up-date mods ? Ron Rich
