Touchtunes Genesis 2 questions

by mongoosetoo » Sat Oct 18, 2014 3:44 pm

I own a Touchtunes Genesis 2 and the amp is not powering up. It is complete and original - meaning it has the original computer, amps, speakers, touchscreen, etc. It will not produce sound though. The system powers up fine otherwise.

I checked the fuses under the amps, they are fine. I suspect the cable wiring between the pc and the amps. Does anyone know what pins kick the amp on? It would be awesome if I can get a complete pinout of the the cable, but I'll take anything at this point.

Thanks, mongoosetoo

No response? Does anyone know anything about Touchtunes jukes? I've got an expensive box sitting in my shop that I'd like to get back in business. Please help!

Those machines -must- have an internet connection. They will function for a period of days w/out it, but after that they must 'call home" and be polled. An account with Rowe was/is also required.

You may be able to hack it for standalone use at home :-)

Yes, the Touchtunes machines must be connected to the internet 24/7. That's so it can check & confirm it's electronic copyright license every day. If it does not get it's electronic "handshake" from the manufacturer's music license, the machine shuts down and no music can be played.

Hi
With any of these touchscreen machines if intended for home use I would put in my own pc with music and use the existing touchscreen. There are plenty of touchscreen software programmes on the internet which are as good or even better than the original one installed, you might be able to salvage the existing amp. If intended for commercial there will be issues with licences etc

Thanks - I understand all of that, but the amps aren't kicking on. Not a software issue, not an internet issue, I'm just trying to find which wires trigger the controller card to power on the amps. It's going to be either a wire issue or a card. Wires are cheap, controller cards are not. That's why I'm trying to find out which pins send the "signal" to kick on the amps.

I am by no means an expert but maybe this little bit will help ya.
I worked at a bar for a while and if the touch tunes lost power, after it booted up it would act like it was playing, take money, accept your song selection.... but no sound would come out. after an hour or so of it powered back up sound would start to come out of it. It had an external amp so it must have turned off the preamp or just any line output.

Thanks. About to give up and throw an old school amp in it just to get it working again.
