Admiral Radio Phonograph Model 6RT43-5B1

by JanJoy » Wed May 16, 2007 1:41 am

I have an old radio phonograph with automatic record changer. It is an Admiral Model 6RT43-5B1. This piece has been in my family since the early to mid 1940's. It needs a tube, but I believe that it will work when I get and install the tube(s). I remember when it played about 35 years ago. A repairman took out the tube and never returned with the new one, so I'm also looking for places to purchase the tubes. I have the diagram of tube placement and even have the numbers for those tubes. I just need a place to buy them.
I'd also like to get an idea of the value of this piece of furniture.
The radio phonograph sits on top of a double door "record cabinet". The top of the radio raises with hinges on the back, to reveal the phonograph.
I even have some of the 78 records that were played on it.
I'm not interested in selling it, but just as any other antique in the family, I would like to pass it down to my children when they are old enough to be interested. I'd just like to know it's approximate worth. The cabinets of both pieces are made from mahogany.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Your radio phonograph is from 1947, worth about $30.00. It probably won't play very well even if you replace the missing tube. The filter caps need replacing as well as other parts. The record changer would be in question also. You can get a fair deal on tubes from http://www.radiotubesupply.com. Get more tube vendors with a search too.
