Rockola Bubbler CD8 model, showing computer faulted

by ltspeed » Sun Apr 17, 2011 5:19 pm

My Rockola CD8 model suddenly quit playing, now it is showing that the computer is faulted on the amplifier indicator light (it is Off) and the number 8. appears in the status window. I have checked all the fuses which are OK, plugged and unlplugged several times and manipulated the switches, (just in case) but to no avail. The door lights will come on when opened and the switch manipulated but that is all, no action from the player nor any readout on the play window. I would appreciate it if anyone could share any info on this, I'm a long way from a repairman and 3 staircases up.

Unfortunately, "RockOla" has made too many versions of that for me to follow computer differences. I have to use the Service Manual to trouble shoot them--
The first question is--Which version is it ? "Silver, black, yellow, orange, or Red" ? The second question is--do you have THE correct manual for it ? Ron Rich

The correct model number is CD8B with Oak Veneer cabinet with wide chrome at the bottom and 3 bands of mirror blocks on the sides, it has a red musical note background on the inside and was made in 8-8-1999, as for the manual I've just moved from another state and my manual is still with some other belongings and not here with me .This particular box has very few hours on it as I bought it new and it just hasn't been played a lot but after the move I plugged it up and it was playing beautifully on 2 consecutive days for a few hours then just quit. It had quit playing before storing prior to me moving and after the move I plugged it up and it just started playing as described above then quit and Oh yes, the covers on the computer and amp on the inside are orange.

Sorry, that does not help me, all cabinet versions appear basically, the "same"--the only guy I knew of that could have helped you, was "Rock-ola Charlie"--a great guy who passed away about 4 years ago. I am not familiar with the "orange" version at all--perhaps someone else is ? If not, you are just going to have to wait for the Service Manual, and HOPE that the manual is somewhat correct for the "orange electronics" version that you have.

Thanks Ron, I should have the manual in 2 or 3 weeks then maybe I can solve the problem before I have to haul it to service repair somwhere, probably Nashville.

I'm assuming this one has a battery for the computer memory. Just to play it safe, I'd check the battery to see if it's gone bad/weak.
