Stylus skips at start of 45 - Wurlitzer 3600

Hi,
I am a collector of many things (soda machines, matchbooks, vinyl records, stamps, coins, etc.), but I recently acquired my first jukebox. It is a Wurlitzer 3600. Nice clean original IMO (pics attached).
I got a S&P manual off the web and it has helped me out immensely. I've broken down and refurbished the Tone Arm, Turntable and Overide Switch Assembly - working my nerve up for some other assemblies. The machine cycles through the selections and returns "Home" after the last selection plays; however, it always skips over the first 1/4" of the 45. I have the lift adjusted correctly at 1", the feed-in set at 3&11/32", but it drops and rides to the left every time! I do not have a gram scale to properly set the tone arm - are they for sale somewhere? I have adjusted the balance weights to each extreme and in-between, but it still skips. I've ordered a new stylus, but don't have it yet. Will a new stylus correct my issue? BTW - I noticed that the stylus that is in there can be flipped over with a needle on each side. Is there a difference between the two?
Secondly, how can I remove the record carousel? The manual gives no instruction for it's removal. I've lightly tugged at a few things , but don't want to break something.

Thank you in advance for any insight.

My guess would be that your needle is bad, or something ( trip off, switch ??) is forcing the tone arm to skate--that's a pretty simple mechanism, which you should be able to watch release the tone arm, and see if something's "pushing it" ? As for pressure, of course, you are correct--the pressure must be correctly set. A (Neuses brand) tone arm adjusting gauge is available form most of the parts suppliers listed above in this section, or, I think, directly at 312253-6555 Ron Rich

On page 19C of the service manual the adjustments are described. You said you did the 3-11/32" correctly as described in letter A.
Did you as well adjust the trip switch like written in letter C and D?
I understand if that is not done correctly the tonearm is still kind of "on hold" while the record plays already. Then the tonearm would make a "jump" inwards.

Double sided needles can have different tips. Depending on what is installed now it could even be a 78 rpm on one and a 45 rpm on the other side. The 78 rpm tip is thicker and would neither play well nor be good for your records. Of course same happens when the tip is pretty much worn. Another reason why one side often plays not as good as the other is the position of the tip. Usually they are just 100% opposite but slightly offset. The angle to the record is different in that case on one side and can influence the tracking.
