a few years ago i bought this Packard Bell stereo console from a family off craigslist.

however, i don't know much about it and was hoping the very knowledgeable people on this board could school me. i believe it is a 1962 model. if so it is missing some vertical pieces in the center of the front. i had wanted a mid-century console for a while and plan to do some restoration to it - most importantly getting it playing well. it plays, but very scratchy. if anyone has information it is greatly appreciated. also, if any of you live in the Portland Oregon area and know of anyone specializing in the restoration of these systems, please let me know. thanks!

Scratchy can mean three things:

1. The records could be scratchy. Try other records (after first determining that number 2 is not true.

2. The stylus could be bad, damaging the records. Replace the stylus.

3. If the controls scratch when moved, they need cleaning and lubrication. Get some Caig De-Ox-It control cleaner. It also lubricates.
