Seeburg USC1 Questions

The credit switch will not give you credits. I have removed the pricing board from t DTPU to set the box to free play. The re-set re-select light stays on and will not go out. I can trip the mech and it will funtion as intended. But so far I can not get the key board to make a selection. I would welcome any ideas on how I can resolve this and be able to make selections with the key board?

Another itemis the fact that there is no schematic in the manual for tthe Digital Receiver & Decoder Type DRD1, is someone has one, could they share this?

Thanks
Darrell

Darrell,
There is help available for all Microlog type phono's--
I have written a trouble shooting guide, and the late Tony Miller has written a "Black/Gray book". Seeburg never published a schematic for the public on those boxes, for the simple reason, most people would destroy them instantly, by opening them. They contain NO moving parts, but they do have a LSI, which is subject to total destruction, if static precautions are not taken when opening the box. If you would like a copy of my TSG, contact me off list. Tony's book is available from www.alwaysjukin.com . Also, I still repair the boxes, but I don't know what is causing your problem--did you check the supply voltages ? Ron Rich

I understand Tony passed away awhile ago. Will Tony's family get the proceeds or does someone else now have the rights to that material?

Thanks for info. going to tinker a little more before the towel gets trown in.

Best
Darrell

Darrell,
I honestly do not know--Mrs. Miller has refused to speak to me since just after Tony passed--I have no idea why, and it saddens me greatly---
Don't mess around too much--you can do damage faster then you can fix it, on those things ---

Sorry about your situation.

I will restrain myself on the tinkering.

My friend Mark stopped over & we tinkered. The 13 and 27 volts between the Digital Control Center and the Digital Transmitter & Pricing Unit checked out OK. The re-set re-select light is not lit now, some progress. It still will not give you credits while set to free play. Kinda of thinking the Digital Transmitter & Pricing Unit is fried? Any ideads?

Thanks
Darrell

Darrell,
When you say "OK", what were the readings?--also, did you check the reset voltage ?
BTW--are the lamps used correct--they MUST be 1819 "Double hung" lamps only --

Hi all
I am the Mark working on this with Darrell. the voltages i tested at several locations up to the long connetor on the box. they were within 10% of the -13 and -27v at pin 5(even thought the manual said 4) and pin 9. I also checked the ground back to the DTT to make sure it was good. we have cleaned almost all the connectors (dtt drd etc). We just noticed that the reset light quit working after checking voltage. We are stuck as the manual gives very little information as to how to test for operation. i am curious if we can charge the tormat so it would play every record, like can be done on the older Seeburgs. that would allow us to check at least that part of the units operation. Thanks Mark

Hi Mark
I need to know the exact measurements on th -13, and -27 vdc on the test point to ground on the DCC.
Yes--the battery trick works on all Tormat models. (Trouble shooting guide is in the mail) Ron Rich

Thanks: i know that the voltages were about 10% or less low but will recheck in a few days and post a new reply. We are working on the the seeburg and an NSM concert 240 as well with problems. so i can't remember specifics right now. Mark

I recorded 3 of the voltage readings. 12.77V, 12.2V and 26.1V.

Darrell,
Which "voltages" are they--plus, or minus DC, or AC ? How about the reset voltage ?

Ron

I beleive they were negative DC Volts. Do not recall any discussion about reset voltage. Will let Mark respond to rest of your question.

Ron

Checked voltage at reset bulb and if I did this correctly, it it -0.68, if that makes any sense to you.

Darrell,
Not where that voltage is checked--must be checked on the 311125- board at the reset transistor--must also be checked for "timing"as well as voltage-- Ron Rich
