New here. I have a Victor VV-80

Hello!

I'm new to the forum. I was looking around and came across another person with this Victrola. I however have lost the posting. There was some discussion about improving sound quality. While I think that the sound I get from this isn't too shabby for what it is, I was curious as to things that improve the quality. I have heard everything from Cactus needles to something to do with changing some of the parts to improve sound quality. I was wondering how this Victrola stacks up against the majority out there and whether I should or not consider this.

I have my own sound project that I am working on with this Victrola on youtube. If you watch the first you can see the crank screws are loose (can't be tighted / probably stripped) and that the sound at the outside of the record is good, while as it gets to the center, it's a little distorted. It could be the record though as this is the only one I have noticed this issue with. This is also the only large format record I had done this with.

The videos of the unit are as follows -

Thx.
