That reminds me, in the mid fifties an aunt and uncle gave me one of these, or very similar, it was original. It only played 78s.
My uncle was an electric engineer and altered it for me to play 45s. The speed control was some felt pads that rubbed on a flywheel, controlled by a lever next to the turntable. He adjusted the pressure so that I could slow it down to pretty much any speed I wanted. I remember there was a set of three gimbal weights as a speed regulator.
