webcor ravinia console info needed

by pointplayer » Mon Jul 26, 2010 8:17 am

I have a webcor ravinia hi-fi console that I could'nt pass up - it was free and owned by an elderly lady who had it since it was new. The cabinet is in really great condition except for the grill cover, but the mahogany wood finish is remarkably beautiful for a piece this old. It plays in 16, 33, 45, &78 speeds and has the magic mind changer feature. Other than that, I know nothing else about it. I'd like to have it serviced before I put any vinyl on it because I'm sure it sat for a really long time and is as original as the day it was made, and I don't want to create a more expensive problem. You know- kinda like preventive maintenance! Anyway, I was hoping someone could help me in determining the year this thing was made, or where I might find a manual, or any other interesting facts on Webcor from that era of phonograph history like what it sold for new, or was it considered a decent system for that period? I don't have any pictures to post yet but it is a Webcor Ravinia model# MC1859-1. The serial# 409648. Any help or feedback is appreciated. THANX Pointplayer Clarksville, Pa.

Have you tried google?
Vinyl is disease which attacks that area of the brain desiring digital recordings. Once you catch it, you are cured.

If you don't know what the Magic Mind is, it is a feature that lets you play 12" 33, 10" 33, and 7" 45 in the same stack, changing the speed automatically for each record. In the 16 or 78 position, 12", 10" and 7" records can be mixed, but the speed doesn't change.
