I have a Magnavox Astro-sonic model 1p3819 , serial number 2903433 that i had purchased a few years back for the price of $50.00 . It has the am/fm , turn table and a reel to reel tape player all in working condition and the cabinet is in great condition. Does anyone have any information on this thing , like year of mfg, rarity , and maybe how much it might be worth.
any info would be greatly appreciated , thank you

Your Astro-Sonic is worth as much as you can get someone to pay for it and that is the truth....most members here will tell you it's worth $10-$20
and that's if it's in decent condition. My advice is Service, Clean and Polish make it look like no one abused it and list it on Craigs List and I think
you can double your money. If you want to find out more about the unit click on this link

Why not clean and service it and then enjoy it?

There are "date" stickers on the receiver, amp, turntable. Don't go by that Magnavox cabinet number. Cabinets can be used for several years with upgraded components as technology advances. --BB

Wow....what a concept. Clean, service and enjoy.
I agree with Thom wholeheartedly. Not to sound mean, but Newbies, do some homework before posting a question that has been answered a gazillion times. Of course, we're here to help each other in any way we can, and we got experts like Matt Tech and others to step in.
Unless you've got some rare 50's tube unit, maybe an elusive Imperial, Concert Grand, Spirit of '76 collection, don't expect to retire any time soon. These things are not worth much, but it's still a joy having them. I've got a least eight of them up in the house, and can't remember what's stacked up out in the garage.
MagnavoxFriends.com has alot of Maggie color brochures posted, and I'm sure you'll find your model there. You can clean up your unit and post it on Ebay or Craig's List and maybe get $50-75 bucks for it, maybe even more since it has a tape deck, reel-to-reel, none the less. Reels and vinyl have a unique sound quality, and I would personally keep the darn beast and enjoy it for what it's worth. Used reels of tape and LP's are cheap at the thrift stores, and many of my boxed sets of LP's have never been opened. I got a big box of pre-recorded reels from our local Classical (24/7) radio station when they switched over to CD's.
Sorry for babbling so much...I've been on vacation all week and have nothing better to do than connect with my fellow record player friends.
Oh, and an official welcome to Lagwagon1345. Answers to your questions are burried deep in this board, and it makes for great reading. Lord knows, I've learned alot here. --BB
