I go along with Ron's diagnosis that is is mechanical not electrical.

A test is to hold one errant letter and a number when credit is on. The search unit should work and punch the pin.

if so, that would confirm a mechanical problem with the latchbar linkage. These assemblies are old, dirty and that makes them erratic.

Hi
I have a R80 with the same problem, it has been doing it for at least 10years! It is an intermittent fault and usually clears after a couple of minutes so I have never bothered to try and fix it (too many other jukes to play with). But I would be interested to know the cause.

It is on coin play so the latch bar is 'on'. It is always the A to K bank, the L to V and numbers always work. The buttons sort of vibrate as if there is something pushing back on them. Holding down a number has no effect.

In my opinion these are the best sounding 45rpm Jukeboxes ever made. Not everybody likes the styling, but no designer ever designed an 'ugly' machine, so it is in the eye of the beholder. I think the syling of all these from the R74 to R80 are very much of there time, and thats what I like about them visually.

Good evening Gentleman.

so.. after running this jukebox at 90% for the past couple years.. I finally decided to start dabbling with the amp since it has one dead channel... disassembled the entire thing and DeOxed brushed & cleaned it up, also checked fuses (all good)

Sadly after reassembly I remain with one dead channel.

there are two driver boards within the amp (one for each channel)
board model #:ROWE Ami 40-06316

have done some research and am unable to find anybody that repairs these, also found one replacement on Ebay (UNTESTED) and I can already tell its missing a fuse.

any idea where I can get this repaired and/or a replacement ?

thanks

Hello Netcat,

I do repair these amplifiers the 64 watt 601-02179 or R-2179A that were used on the R-74. R-80, R-81, R-82, CTI-1SC & RI-2 jukeboxes.

Sadly as many of you know I am the UK, I am sure Ron will also repair these amplifiers.

If you can not find anyone to repair it for you then please feel to contact me.

Regards
