Rockola 445 gear question

I've posted a few times about my 445, and am in the the home stretch. Selection system working, amp working, mag motor working, gripper motor working, but with a problem. Ive followed the instruction in the manual re: the gripper arm, tone arm, mag, etc, being in the correct, ready position. However, I can't seem to get the outside gear on the gripper assembly mechanism in the correct position because when I try to operate it, that gear locks up and blows a fuse. How do I prevent this from happening? Is there a trick to getting it in the right positions?

Will do. I will send tomorrow evening. I appreciate your help. One additional question: when I put in scan mode, the magazine motor jams. I took the assembly apart, cleaned the "alternating dog" (?), lubricated it, but it still jams when the alternating dog tries to switch from A track to B track (it jams in the cam intersection). Any ideas?

Cam and dog look good, very clean. I'm guessing the post is sticking. I'll work on that next. Thanks, Ron

Up/down bar is not sticking, but still jamming. Can't figure this one out. Dog and cam look fine, clean, well Lubed. I un hooked the mag motor and rotated by Hand while manipulating the bar with my other hand. Made it work this way, but only this way. Any other ideas?

Yeah..maybe too much grease. Re: ballast. I need a 25 watt, 60 hz ballast. Ive seen universal ballasts for sale. Do they work? Are there over the counter equivalents?

The mag cam was jamming because I installed the mag motor incorrectly. Found a ballast and repaired the gripper gear issue. One Hammer coil is burned out and is being repaired. Replaced cartridge and lost one of the f ing screws to attached the cartridge. Victory glass does not sell. Any ideas where I can find one?
