"ALZ" The only dealings I've had with this company to-date were in 2000 & 2001 when I bought three of their serial based wallbox-computer interfaces. These were set up and sold via my antique dealer to customers for home use. They worked and were easy enough for the customers to load.
I was in a location in late 2012 that has a Rowe "C". I'm sure it used a converter as there was no handling noise and the tracks came up instantly. Sound quality varied, probably based on the file bitrate. The Rowe CD machines were not the best sounding, they tend to be rather hard and "PA" quality. The best sounding files were indistinguishable from a cd in that situation, the lowest rate files did have some of the characteristics artifacts (swishing-chorusing). Some title strips were handmade so the files were probably downloads and Youtube rips.
One point regarding the Cd unit, the hard drive it uses is IDE and there -may- be a problem getting notebook drives in the future as everything current is SATA interface. It might be a good idea to use one of their flash card adapters in that unit.
They also offer an ipod converter for the Rowe.
I will probably buy several of their newer wallbox converters for use in my locations. the main impediment for me has been the lack of a popularity meter.
Since that company sells interstate via the Post Office, they are required to offer money back on the products so, if you don't like it, return it and you are back to getting the mech working.
