Rockola Supersound jukebox issues

by mikehende » Mon Mar 25, 2013 11:13 pm

Hello, I am thinking of purchasing this jukebox, the current owner purchased it
from some who had told him it used to work then all of a sudden stopped working
so he thought it may have been a simple fix, maybe a blown fuse or something but
after purchasing and checking everything he could think of he could not get it
to work, all lights are working but no movement when the buttons are pressed.

I am a PC Tech so I am wondering if I may be able to troubleshoot this JB
myself instead of having to find a pay a tech to fix it but any ideas where I
can get help with troubleshooting this? Any Jukebox technicians forums anyone
can link me to please? Thanks.

I have a PC it was working and it stopped can you tell me how to fix it?

Mike

Anyone that could assist you will need to know some information (other than you are thinking about buying some unidentified Rockola Juke Box that lights up), such as model number, CD or Vinyl, set for free play or do you need to insert money, etc etc etc.

Think of it as buying a part for your PC do you just tell a company my PC does not work how do I fix it or do you identify what the PC it is, the operating system it is running on and which version is being used, etc etc etc. You know it is like ordering a fan belt for a Chevy - more info is needed to determine which one.

Most would also like to know what area of the country you are from in case you will need outside help.

With good information I think maybe someone will be able to give you a little guidance.

Best
Darrell

Sorry, I don't have much more info to give since I don't own the unit and the model number of the Supersound Model is 490 as I am being told. I am just looking around for links to a tech forum where I might be able to get help if I should purchase this unit. My location is New York, thanks.

Hello Mike,

Welcome to the forum. if you go into your profile and add your location it will list this with every message that you place on the forum.

I do not work on Rock ola justboxes these days, only Rowe Ami.

The Rock Ola Supersound is a 1984 jukebox, the Supersound 1 & 2 were produced in 1985/6, these jukeboxes will have computer controlled boards.
If you go on the www.jukebox-world.de website run by Hildegard & Oliver Stamann, check out their archive section for pictures of the jukeboxes listed above.

I work both on PC's and jukeboxes and the principles are completely different.

Regards
Alan

Hello Alan and thank you for your info! That's what I figured, that the main controls in this unit would be computerized and so should be right up my alley but I would need help from a Tech to get started, I don't want to go to all the trouble of buying this unit then end up not getting help to fix it or find out is not repairable for any reason so my first preference would be to find a Tech who has experience with this unit who can give me his take on this situation.

I will check out your link and I will try to see if there are Jukebox repairmen in my area if I can't get online help, appreciate it!
