Rowe R-86 - New To Me

Hi Bruce,
As Alan said--bad board is a possible reason--check the magnetic read switch and the "no record" on turntable switch first. Then the record cancel circuit (including the "remote" and "cabinet rear") switches. You might even watch the LED's on the mech control board--- I can't envision how a broken cam could cause this--but, it's been a long time since I have seen that problem-- Ron Rich

Ok then, I'm going to start with a control computer and tone arm cam, and see what
happens.
Which leads me to my next question....
Anyone know where i can buy a new control computer? I found them for sale as an exchange,
but I'd like to keep the one I have and buy another. (I'm already looking at jukebox number 2)

Ron, can you point me in the direction of the no record switch?

I have great hope for this old juke, because I have checked all the lights, on the control board and all seems
to be good.

Hello Bruce,

I would take up that offer from Ron, these boards are quite difficult to source! and are costly.
When you get a replacement you will have to check the opto switch adjustments with the new board (it would be the same if you replaced the Mechanism Control Unit) so look up the pages for the mechanical/electronic adjustments (on the later MCU there were trimmers for the home & index).

On the cutoff board there is a pad that a screw shorts out on if a record is not in the slot or if the record is badly warped.
With a record on the turntable there should be around a 25 thousandth of an inch gap (spark plug gap) between the screw and the pad.

Can anyone confirm this ccc would work in my R93??
I believe the part number on mine ends in 04, but looking at the pictures
of this Ebay ad, I don't see any differences.

The CCC on Ebay would work on the following jukeboxes only:
R-85, R-85, R-86, R-87, R-88, CTI-2, RI-3, RI-4 and RI-5.

I do not get your reference of the R-93 when your post started with Rowe R-86?

Rowe part numbers are only 6 numbers long. The last two indicate the "Rev #".
Usually, they are interchangeable without regard to the rev #, but in some instances, they may have added or changed something that will not allow an older rev # to be used in a newer phonograph.
And--As Alan wrote--What's with the "R-93" ?

That price of $100+ is about the going price in the USA for a working board, however you need to check the board when and if you get it for battery corrosion/retained voltage (without power to the board the battery should read 2.4 volts) you had best check out the board for dry joints (cold joints USA) on all of the connection pins.

Being as you are changing your CCC, you had better check your opto switch ajustments/setting as per the manual.

I suspect multiple problems with this machine, but I'll knock them out
one at a time.
