Perhaps it's another with "valve speakers" they're pretty rare.
As far as I know, there's only one other in existence.

That machine is quite restorable. If it were $500-600 it would be a decent price. In cases like this is becomes a matter of how original you want the final result to be.

In 1986 one of the guys on tenth ave brought-in an 1800 that had serious fire damage. All plastics were melted and the right side had a scorch mark form something that was burning falling against it. An op there had it in storage for at least twenty years. By 1986 most of the plastics were being reproduced so when he saw the 1800 I had just bought we decided to go for it.

Total dissassembly, washing with stripper of all items. The floor stripper took off much of the interior paint so that was redone and the cabinet was sent to a friend of someone in NJ who removed the veneer and redid both sides. The speakers were replaced . The Cobra remained as this was a year before I started modding that type of tone arm for a magnetic. Decent Cobra styli were available, but that was still a bit of a handicap compared to how those machine can sound when equipped with a modern pickup. The curved glass was ok but the title glasses were shattered or cracked.

When all was said and done, there was not a trace of what had happened to that machine decades ago. I did find that particularity rewarding. We split an even $3000 when it went to an exporter who probably sent it to Europe.

Rob,
IMHO, Today's economics, and parts availability, probably leave this cabinet out of the "rebuild-able"category--at least here on the west coast---However, if someone had all the missing parts in a "bad" cabinet, and the price was in the range, you spoke of, it might be worth making one great one out of two--as a labor of love ?? My vote for "most hopeful of the week" !
Ebay # 331350696595--Sprayed the wrong color, "operators decal", that he is kind enough to let you remove, and best of all --looks like a mouse has chewed, all across the bottom--"ONLY", $189----Ron Rich

He means he's already taken it off and didn't like what he saw, so stuck it back on again?

It's that man again!

Here you go, a bog standard Rock-Ola Max jukebox with another naff illustration over the speakers, I guess the latter is priced at £1000, given the "buy it now price" is £1495.

He couldn't be assed to make and upload a YouTube video, "But here's one I made earlier of a different machine."

:| What is your issue with the man with the Max

A restored machine is worth £1200-£1500 , that's what he sold the last 3 with "Naff" Elvis photos on within days of advertising........he thought he would do this one with an American Diner theme , bit different to the thread bare 70's covers normally on them after 30 years.

Not such a "Hopeful" more a man who has found a gap in the market and doing well ...... 8)

I appreciate some people selling crap on ebay and wanting silly money , I laugh as much as the next person when a "Dukebox" that "Was working prior to being put in my damp garage for 10 years " and wants £2500 for something worth £50 in parts , but don't see why you have an issue with this guy ?

BTW , its not me (!!) its someone i know who works very hard on these as his hobby and does a better job than most dealers ......

( Oh , and the reason he has had to use an old video is his camera that does videos was not working and he used the old one - you will be please to know he will be uploading a new video soon !! )

:)

I was surprised to see another offered at the same price, as one that didn't sell on eBay. A working one sold recently for £500. A service on it if needed, wouldn't have cost that much and there's no warranty offered in the one at £1.495.

"Each to his own" as they say. The Elvis machine has been offered a few times at that price and the latest information is that it didn't sell and the vendor withdrew it. If he sold it for that price, good luck to him. But enough people on here will tell you that you don't always get back what you put into restorations.

"My issue" is that most people on here would say it's well over-priced. They're quite a robust machine and lots of them come up on eBay.
Sadly, no amount of work on them would make it a visible mechanism machine and in my opinion a fancy graphic on the front just spoils the look.. Anyway "one man's restoration is another's, tarting up."

But attempting to sell a jukebox on eBay with the "wrong" video, wouldn't inspire anyone with any sense to make a bid. To me, It's a bit amateurish and could be considered a bit desperate. It creates the wrong impression. It's as bad as; "This is what it could look like when restored." We've seen that a few times.
Far better to wait until the "right" video was available. Good luck to the guy.

Given the details he posted of the way it was constructed, is he trying to sell it or, "run it down?"

Didn't notice that, to be fair I doubt if the vendor has.

Still, it could be the best example of "new old stock," ever listed.
