45 RPM Adapters

I can't remember the post, but someone asked about the different adapters.

The first pic is from changers used in the 70's (probably W700/W800 series) and has a very short spindle. The second pic is what you find on those 1960's W602 - W622 and newer series changers. The adapter in pics 3 and 4 (1965 Astro-Sonic with Imperial micromatic) has a hole on top to accommodate the tall spindle. The last changer (1964 tube console) has the shorter spindle as in the second pic. Pics 4 and 5 are similar turntables with different sized spindles...why did they do that? --BB

I thought it was to reduce manufacturing costs...
