I am confuzzed--if the "gripper motor" is running all the time, what's the griper bow doing ??

Hi
If it runs after a selection has been made and record placed on the turnatable then the cam microswitches may be out of adjustment, turn gripper motor back(when machine is off) as far as you can , gripper bow should be over the magazine, microswitch no. 1 should be in the grove, it could also be a faulty microswitch no. 2 i think, but the manual should specify

Clones,
If it's doing that--it SHOULD bow the fuse --if a CB is used in this model, it's defective ! Check ALL fuses for proper, size and type !

Hi
Yes it should, just came across this problem the other week with a rockola 443, a slight adjustment of the microswitch cam sorted it out

Sounds to me like the end of record switch is made all the time. Make sure the wires from the cartridge haven't gotten in there and pulled the switch closed. Also make sure the tone arm follower is riding on the cam where it should be. The switch doesn't normally get that far out of adjustment without someone screwing with it. Usually the record will eject before the end or it will never eject, or just run in the end groove. A small adjustment will bring it back in line. Look carefully before adjusting

Don't mess with those switches on the rear of the mechanism until everything else is ruled out.

Did you RTFM--the "sequence of operation" should tell you that the gripper must be flat , as if a record was put onto the turntable, before the tone arm can move--where is the gripper arm when you attempt to "move it" ? Ron Rich

I have checked the Mico switches and the tone are switch. Founder that my cartridge cable is broken too. I pulled the gripper motor and it is running all of the time and the turntable motor too. Can't make a selection. Cb looks good and all fuses correct.

OK-if flat, can you turn the gripper gear, by hand, a little more to activate the next MicroSwitch, and move the tone arm cam far enough so the tone arm is free ?

Hi
Maybe the back end of the tonearm is impeding the operation of the cam and the sequence hasn't been finished fully. The gripper motor may be operating constantly but slipping as the cam may not be moving and the motor will keep going until the microswitches 2 amd 3 are operated, maybe if you post a link to a video of whats happening

It's impossible for the tone arm to not move as the gripper moves. It's all on the same shaft. If it's not moving it is because it isn't placed on the tone arm cam correctly. The tone arm rides on each side of the cam. When the gripper motor runs, it rotates the tone arm cam. Tone arm has to move if it is in place. The tone arm cam shaft also turns the cam thatmakes the microswitches on the back to slow down and stop the gripper motor. Don't adjust anything until this is fixed. You will have a mess. You have probably bent the end of record switch by having the tone arm in the wrong place.
