Well after putting it off for another day I pulled the amp to see why the AVC tubes are missing. It has been (as we used to call it)Shotgunned, All the caps changed.??? Except for the one , C111. And that is the one that is leaky.
Boy am I smart....But wait. AVC works great except for the hum at the start and finish of the record.. Filters.. has to be. And here is where that dreaded AA desease kicks in. I spend quite a bit of time with filters . Then I think over a cup of coffee.. BASICS.. Active components. Yeah one gassy 6BA6 tube..
It works great.

Consider yourself "lucky". Most SHFA type amps in here for repair, need the avc diodes replaced--
