ROWE R-84 FULL VOLUME

I just picked up both of these boxes within the last two weeks the r84 only played full blast when i got it, the volume control seems to be the original, but i may swap that from the r86 as a test. i will double ck that shorting bar tonight to make sure its not on dual. you ask...<is the correct jumper installed on the "bad" pre-amp ?> by this do you meen the above mentioned shorting bar? or are you asking something else? the shorting bar is just a little rectangle 2 slot deal on both units. there is a some what local jukebox junkie that im told rebuilds thes amp units in the $100 price range, but i hat to have another chunk of $$ in vested in this unit. with moving the speaker whires on the transformer or what ever, i was able to get the volume down to a level where it can at least be played without blowing the windows outta the place..lol so if im cant figure something out on here, i may just live with it as is, unless some one on here can hook me up
withe a cheap working preamp board....... would the 4 football shape deals on the actual amp heatsink fins have anything to do with vol. control? just wondering

No--the jumper is on the amp--or should be--$100.00 is "cheap" to do a re-build--leaving it run "as-is" could end up costing you much more--
No them thar "football shape deals" are output transistors--I think--

could you expand on what this jumper should be on the amp? whats it look like? and where should it be?

It's a 18 or so position, usually white, A-MP (brand) plug that sits in the pre-amp board, through the chassis, next to the heatsink.--If it's there, try turning it "over" as it will fit "both ways"---

once again im not there to look at it, but i do seem to remember a white multi-pin plug that has a couple white wires that looped around to its self,,.. i guess that could be the jumper you speak of.? if so i will try fliping it over and see what i have..any idea what terminals should be looped together? is it safe to assume that they should be configured the same on my R-86? also have you ever run into a rowe/ami "SHOP MANUAL" ? there have been some referances to that on some other site (quite some time ago) stating this is differant than the field service manuel/parts guide that i have... this should have been something used by the repair tech, in the shop where more extensive repairs needed to be made that couldnt be performed out in the field
