Rowe R89 Jukebox

Hello, I have a Rowe R89 jukebox that was working before I moved it home, now when you make a selection it will pick the record but when it rejects the record arm does not move up enough to clear the turntable, looks like it catches on the side of the turntable and jams there, does anyone have an answer for this problem.

Sure do--Next time you move it prepare it for moving, FIRST, as per the Service Manual. Meanwhile, just pick-up the arm slightly from the rear, and set it back in the track, if you have not broken the plastic cam----see the SM. Ron Rich.

Ron is correct there are procedures to tie down the jukebox prior to shipping.
The problem will be that the tone arm is not over the tone arm cam correctly, the two pins on the plate attached to the tone arm (guide plate assembly 2-18142-01) should go either side of the tone arm, or that one of these pins has broken off.

Hello again, Thanks Ron and Ami-Man for your info on the rowe jukebox, now the record arm is fine but I have a couple of other issues with the box, it will not switch over to play a B side of the record, also when you make a selection it plays the one in the next slot on the mech instead of the original selection, appears to be off a little on the timing.

You are welcome--what did you do/find ?
Do you have a service manual--if so follow the "basket alignment", and "opto sensor" adjustment procedures shown--Is the basket fully loaded ? (This very well could have been caused by failure to tie it down for shipping--and if so, "adjusting" may or may not compensate) Ron Rich

As Ron says do you have the manual any from R-89 to R-93 will do for the adjustments and setups etc.

Being as the the jukebox is new to you will need to check out all the adjustments and check for if the jukebox has been lubricated. If it has then you will need to get the lubrication off especially if its around the gripper bow assembly and sprag wheel. These assemblies will need to be stripped down and cleaned, soapy water is the the best option. If gease or oil has been on the sprag wheel it will have rotted the stem bushing.

You are best the check all the boards for dry joints (cold joints USA) on the connections only. Do not try to do this yourself if you can not solder instead send the boards to a professional for testing/repair.
