I am new to this site, but I am having a problem with my 1968 Seaburg LS1...it is mechanically sound, and everything worked until it stopped picking up the records. You can make a selection and it scans, but will not stop. In the bottom of the jukebox there is a unit that slides out, can't remember the name of it, but it is some type of controller...there is a fuse that keeps blowing. I had a guy come out and look at it, and he replaced the fuse, but it blew it immediately. I think my problem started when someone shut the jukebox off with the strip protector as opposed to the switch on the back of the jukebox. I love this old machine, and it has brought a lot of joy to my daughter and myself...any help will be greatly appreciated.

If the machine allows you to select normally meaning: buttons stay down till both are pressed, then scans twice and stops -you most likely have a shorted capacitor or zener diode in the Control Center (that's what it's called).

The degree to which you cab deal personally with this problem rests with how familiar you are with electronics repair.

Chances are that the machine's electronics have not ever been rebuilt and there are probably a few other areas that are going to need attention.

If you are competent with electronic repair obtain a manual with schematics. If not, try to locate a tech near you or pack the units (i recommend having the amp rebuilt too) and ship them to one of the people who specialize in this work.

Hi Chris,
There is about a 95% chance something is "shorted" inside that SCC. Just "changing the fuse" is not, IMHO, the proper thing to do. One MUST first determine why it has blown. That phono can be equipped with either a SCC-7, or a SCC-8. I can rebuild/test either model--If you wish to ship it to me, contact me "off forum" and I will give you further instructions. Whatever you do, do not replace the fuse again, as it can lead to a VERY expensive repair job----
