Sears SR Stereo

by brofkand » Mon Jul 28, 2008 3:09 am

Hello,

I just got a Sears SR Stereo (model number 132 91940452) from Goodwill the other day. It works great, actually. I plugged it up to some speakers and it sounds great. Tape deck works, as does the radio. I don't have any 8-Tracks, so I don't know about that.

The only thing is I need a needle for the Phonograph. It's really the only reason I bought the thing, so I would really like to get it working. Can anyone point me to a site where I could buy a needle? Thanks so much!

Tyler

Well, the original problem was I didn't know the model number for the needle I needed. That's what I originally meant to ask, although I didn't. :-)

I bought two needles from a seller on eBay. In case anyone else is searching for a needle, the model number of the needle I need is 719-D7. It fits my Sears record player and sounds great.

One other question, does it matter in which orientation the wires in the back of the cartridge plug in? I had to remove them to install the needle (but neglected to write it down). In the process I broke off a few of the solder joints and had to re-solder them. I plugged them back in as best as I could guess, and it works. I just don't know which color goes where. The colors are blue, red, clear, and a greenish.

It matters. You'll have to look for the symbols " R+, L+, R-, L-" or something along those lines. They tell you which is the Right and Left channel and what the polarity is. It is very important to get that right. Though some manufacturers are different the usual color code is as follows: RED = Right WHITE = Left GREEN = Right ground BLUE = Left Ground.

Thanks for the help. I re-arranged the wires, and it sounds great! It was a little "off" before, but now it's great. Thanks again for all the help!
