Rockola Sybersonic 7000 keyboard

Uses what appears to be a common 4 wire telephone cable to connect the keyboard to the computer. The plastic tab that locks the end connector in place had become weak to the point that it was losing connection at the keyboard and the display would go out. So, I installed what appeared to be an identical cable, one that comes with just about any telephone compatible device. After a few seconds, SNAP!, puff of smoke from the keyboard. It blew a hole in the large heat sink mounted transistor on the keyboard. Question is, did they cross the wires in the factory cable for some reason, or did it just happen to blow out at that particular moment? If the former is the case, then whoever designed this thing was a moron. If the latter is true, then it's an unbelievable coincidence. Probably damaged the computer(red series) as well, because afterward I could not scan the mech, unless it does not work with the keyboard disconnected. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks

Never mind, I answered my own question by comparing the two cables. If you hold the ends of the phone cable together like a mirror image, the wire colors are also a mirror image. Black faces black, red faces red, etc. Hold the juke cable ends together and the wires are reversed 180 degrees. Thanks to the ignorant Motley Fool who decided to use what appears to be a common cable and decided to reverse the wiring. I don't care what the reason was, that's just BS. So, a word of caution to anyone who works on one of these jukes. Just because it looks like a duck, has feathers like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it may not be a duck.
