I'm new here and I have a question- I have a seeburg STD3

I bought a seeburg std3 and I found an STD2 being sold for parts and I was wondering if its mostly complete would it be worth 80.00 just for the spare parts? I have the manual set for the std3, and I'd like to study the mechanism operation without experimenting on my mostly working std3.(only problem have with the std3 is no sound from upper speakers and it sometimes doesn't play selections 140-149). the guy who sold me the std3 (he's now 78)says he never had any problems with the upper speakers ever and he operated only seeburgs in the 70s. He also claims the speakers were working.

Worth $80 ?? Probably since all internal parts are virtually the same--
On the speaker( horn) problem--are they connected ? Did you check them with a meter-I have seen many "blown-horns"--usually caused by some "person" "repairing the amp", incorrectly---Ron Rich

I did some checking, but not with a meter. I checked google and I should be getting about 10 ohms of resistance out of the horn speakers, when disconnected, right?

I will check that as soon as I can. Getting ready to drive 60 miles to pick up this std2.

I will report back with my findings.

Hi Tony,
Yes--they are 16 ohm horns, which, depending on your meter, will read in the 10-12 ohm range when good.

I wound up getting the jukebox for 40 bucks, and it was well worth it. I tested the horns and they both ohmed out at 11 or 12. The ones that did not work were"open" between the terminals. So for 40 bucks I got two working horn speakers and a complete record mech, black and gray boxes, power supply , amplifier(looks like it might have had some work done on it), etc. The only thing that appears to be missing is the front panel and the woofer speakers.

I'm going to study the record mech so I can begin to figure out the intermittent no playing of selections 140 to 149.

I have the microlog book and the manual set for the std3 as well as the seeburg mechanism guide. I'm going to get the black and gray box book too.
My experience is mostly late 70's up to late 80's board level pinball repairs.

I never realized how much there was to a jukebox. They make pinball repair look easy.

i just got an STD-3 when i showed up to buy it guy had it jamming out...
got it home; and it will pick up the records and begin to play but then the needle zips down the record and it goes to the next selection and does the same thing...

I have a woofer out for repair; will the ohms difference cause this..?
could it be backwards magnet repair maybe..?

cant get any records to play in the rack...

Does it do this on both sides of the records ?? I would first suspect the needle point(s) have fallen off, needle shanks are compromised, or some one mis-adjusted the counterbaance weight. Tone arm wire is also supect, but this usually forces the mech to skip, backwords ??
Speaker out for work has no bearing on this problem--I have no idea what" backwards magnetic repair" is ??
