Latest Acquisition

Folks,

"Just wanted to share my latest with you. My family bought this for me this week:

Image

An Edison C-19. The cabinet is beat, but fortunately even after nearly sixty years in a damp cellar she runs smoothly. I got about fifty DDs with it as well all in fairly good condition except one!..... Here's something you don't see every day!............

Image

Someone made a serious effort to do that!

As far as I can tell the machine is complete except for the lock escutcheon for the lid and the key.

Regards,
J.

Congrats J. It should scrub up well. I love the record. I've never seen one broken in half before. I got one in a pile of records off ebay, that has a 1" crack running from the edge towards the centre that you can see light through- something else I've never seen in the last 30 yrs. They must have used a sledge hammer to break a DD in half. Wow!

Your family knows how to make you happy! :-) It is a great looking machine, no wonder it was Edison's fav. Hope it does clean-up nice, thanks for sharing.

...and yeah, never seen a DD split like that!

Phonophan,

It's coming along....

I've got a ways to go yet. The silk is just taped in to see how it will look. (I'm not getting ahead of myself Ha Ha!)

The top of the lid and the storage compartment door are very dark and alligatored. Looking like old leather. The GoJo just isn't enough. I tried Howard's on the top-it wasn't enough.

Regards,
J.
