AMI Continental MK1 cartridge

Hi, I have been using the original UK tannoy cartridge in my AMI Continental MK1 and find it gives a good sound. The trouble is I dont have anything to compare it against. I have been told there are better modern alternatives to try which will be less harsh on my records (mostly original issue mono). Any suggestions and opinions would be welcome.
