Hi everyone, just got my first jukebox, a 1977 Rockola Grand Salon
Image

It works with a little help, im trying to get it finished where it works on it own

A few things:
When the record does play, it sounds like its on 33 rpms. I noticed a light on the panel that says "select any LP" I wonder if its on LP mode?
Second, theres a wheel on the left that is supposed to flick one the tab of the number you chose, then the wheel on the right spins and notices that and plays the correct track. Well the wheel on the left needs some help, I need to usually push it with my finger to get it to move. Not sure where to oil it. Both squeel also.

Lastly, the wheel on the right doesnt notice on of the '200' tabs (b side numbers) if goes right by it but it does notice the 100s

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

well I think i figured out the speed issue, this video showed me that very clearly whats sposed to happen

Thanks to that I figured out how to keep the wheel onto the lower spindle to play at 45. Cant play 33s now but thats ok
Not a real fix but a workaround that will be fine

So just the 'no 200s' and right wheel needing to be helped issue

Welcome,
Got a Service Manual--if not look above, at "announcements--where to buy-- "
Read the manual and get back to us using terms in the manual, so someone has a chance to understand what you are attempting to say--

Yep--attaboy, it IS best that you get a little "learning", before "working on it", so that you do not "cause" as many, or more, problems then you "fix" !

Well i havent gotten my manual yet but it seems I need a new read-out carriage
The Arm on the right side (as you look at it from the front) of the selector wheel that detects when the read-on carriage has moved a tab.
I think the solenoid or whatever it is is broken and the sensor to detect the tab has been moved is not working.

Ebay doesnt seem to have one :(

I dont know if anyones paying attention to this, but in case it helps someone else out in the future.....

Chatted with an 'expert' on the phone and he said not to assume its the read-out carriage at all, and look below the scan/stop/run switch at the roller leaf switch to check that it cycles properly. As the carriage rotates, it should be on, but for the next rotation it should stay off, and then back on for the next cycle etc etc. Mine wasnt doing that.

I followed the bar back from the roller leaf switch and saw a bunch of 'gunk' on the axis. 30 seconds with a paintbrush, the gunk is gone, the problem is gone!
Now its selects A and B tracks just fine.

Im pretty happy :D

You just cant neglect a 35 year old machine and get away with it!
