Thank you for the Kudos, David...Bless yo' Bones!
I believe I corresponded with Terri about that particular console. I know they're old, but think these units suffer most from lack of use. Like someone mentioned on here about folks pulling out the old LP's at Christmas time, then the poor thing sits there for another twelve months ignored, and wonder why things happen. "Well, it played beautifully
last year...I don't understand it."
My piano technician told me basically the same thing. A piano will deteriorate faster if it's not being used. You see some of these Estate sales where they're selling Grandma's spinet (or whatever) that looks like it came right off the showroom floor, but the innards are jacked up from lack of use.
My piano sat covered for 10 years, never played or tuned within that time. When he came to tune it about a year ago, to his amazement, it only dropped 1/8th of a pitch and everything else was in order. It better be, the thing was about $60,000 when I bought it, and it better outlast me or any vehicle/house that I own...LOL.
I'll reiterate it again,
I am no professional by any means, no formal training, and I sincerely apologize for any inaccurate information that I may have given on this board to mislead folks. The only degrees I have are Hot and Cold...LOL. (Naw, I actually have an old, outdated degree in Computer Technology/Programming).
I believe we really need each other, because you don't know who to trust nowadays. I work in the Legal profession and can't believe how people get taken advantage of.
For those novices who don't know a thing about these old beauties, please check investigate/research thoroughly before you decided to take/ship your unit to someone for repair. You may never see it again, the bill could be outrageous, or it may be listed on Craig's List or Ebay at a ridiculous price. Get everything in writing. --BB
