Yes you can put whole CDs as a selection, but I find that beats the purpose as you have to cancel the whole CD if you don't want to hear a particular track.

With two wall boxes I use two iPods. Each has it's 160 playlist given the correct code, but it also has the alternate playlist with /1 to stop the wrong one being selected. I found it easier to sync stuff that way, just swopping the codes round in the iTunes playlists on my computer. It then just takes seconds to remove a track and replace it with another, the longest job is printing off the new title card.
I have two sets of quick release connectors to change them over.
I've posted this before but for anyone new to the site, here it is again.

As my iPods are in a cupboard in a wall unit, I can just go to it and manually select any track within the total number of tracks on the iPod. But with a choice of 360 between the two boxes, I don't often do that.

I don't mind if you don't like my manners, I don't like them myself, they're pretty bad, I grieve over them on long winter evenings.

Yes i'd agree its a great product, never thought of making up compilations to get extra songs, the wallboxes are tough to come by over in Ireland anyway, usually the rockola 507 is the most common, would like to get my hands on a seeburg and wurlitzer wallbox,
