Hi guys,
I need help figuring out what make/model record player I purchased from a bizarre here in Dover, Delaware. I searched all over the unit but didn't find any information I could use to identify it. I opened it and couldn't find a clue. I was told by the seller (paid $35) that he changed the needles. From the looks of the internal components he might of changed some of them too. The only identifying feature I saw was the GE symbol on some of the internals but I'm not sure if they can be trusted being as some look new. I intend to take it to be restored professionally but would like to know what model it is and if it worth doing so. Also there aren't many places I know of that can fix/restore it or I'd try calling them for info. The unit works, although it smells like an old attic when turned on ( will that go away eventually or is there something I could do to help de-funk it?) In any case, thanks ahead of time for any help that you may extend.

And you really won't find any information regarding the Concert Hall brand.
It was a generic company who produced inexpensive products that were sold in department/drug stores stores way back when.
I hope you didn't pay more than 5 dollars for that thing.

Unfortunately I did. However, I can attribute that to my inexperience collecting and impulse buying. The price is low enough where I can still live with myself. I appreciate the heads up, I'm glad I didn't spend more cash attempting to restore it. Shame though.

I have to start by saying that electrically amplified phonos are definitely out of my league. If it ain't got a crank sticking out of the side, it don't make no sense to me. I don't want nothin' to do with this fancy 'lek-trizity stuff! (Insert winking face of choice.)

Still, I DO know that while it's probably considered "second rate" compared to some of the name brand units produced during the early 1960s/late 1950s, it TOWERS ABOVE any of the new self-contained Chinese-made all-plastic record players sold by Crosley, etc. As such, it might make for a good project machine, and worth working on to hone your restoration skills. Once completed, it will probably out-perform--and definitely outlast--any "China-Phone" ten times over.
