Wurlitzer 2000 Selection Issues (mechanical)

I'm helping a friend restore his wurlitzer 2000 jukebox and it's having with picking up the correct records.

Let's rewind a bit. The Wurlitzer 2000 my friend purchased needed to be gone through entirely as it sat for years unused. The first thing we noticed upon teardown was that the bevel gears were damaged (stripped out) and needing replacing. We were fortunate enough to find a set of NOS gears and we installed them. When we installed the replacement gears, we just put the roll pin back in on the vertical shaft that holds that gear (I don't think there's a right or wrong way to do this), and we meshed the horizontal bevel gear as per the manual and snugged the tapered set screw down as the manual said (turn until tight). Now when we make a selection (A1 for example), it scans, picks up A1 as it should and plays it. If we select B1 (b-side of A1), it scans, hits the correct pin, but grabs the A-side record that's 180 degrees off. If I reject the record, then fire the next odd pin after B1, it will play B1. It's like the mechanical timing is off 1 tooth, but how could that be if it picks up A1 just fine??? I'm perplexed. Hopefully my explanation is good enough, so if it's not, please let me know and I can take pictures/video if needed.

Does anyone know how to adjust the set screw properly that goes onto the horizontal shaft? Should it be adjusted or should you just tighten it like the book says? If someone would be as so kind to even walk me through it over the phone, I'd be willing to pay them for their services provided we get the machine fixed.

As you may well know, the 2000 was WurliTzer's first, and only use of that mechanism. They re-designed it for the later models. I have not worked on too many 2000's, and really do not recall exactly what it looks like. IF, it has the same arrangements as the later models, ONE of the two "crank arms", that sense a released pin, is fixed, while the other is "adjustable", by loosening two screws ("B" side, I think).
To clarify, the "finger" that senses the pin is movable on one side. I have run into several 200 select phono's doing the same thing, and have found that "some Yahoo" has "re-adjusted" that "finger".
Since the "A" side operates OK, I would see if I could "adjust" (don't "bend it", if not adjustable, with the two screws) that finger to sense sooner. Ron Rich
