I'm looking for a decent turntable to play/ reproduce my Seeburg 16rpm background music records on. I'm currently looking at a Benjamin Miracord by Realistic Elac 40a. Is this considered a good turntable for a beginner? If anyone has a better suggestion, I'm all ears. It would need to have an output so I can jack it into a CD burner. TIA!

The Benjamin should be good, it does have a four pole motor. While a belt or direct drive would be quieter (less rumble) it will still be way better than the original Seeburg mech in both speed consistency and quality of the pickup (what cartridge are you using?)

Those records were designed for a .5mil stylus. You probably will have to use a standard .7mil. It won't damage them but might not get the best detail in the highs.

Those "USB" turntables rarely have four speeds and are junk anyway. Connect the table you have to either a good receiver which has a "Phono" magnetic input and use it's "tape" output, or use a stand alone preamp.

You will need to make a special single-play spindle, since the center holes are larger.

Watch for one thing on a Miracord. Never lift the arm by putting your finger under the finger lift and move it toward the record. The power switch will throw the arm toward the record, scratching it or breaking the needle. Hold it firmly until you get past the switch detent.

Another possibility is any of the 4-speed Collaros.

Also, Seeburg Background Music System records need a special stylus. .7 mil will damage them. Best to use a .5 mil conical.
