Magnavox Micromatic 1SC-230R Stylii

by maxisnow » Wed Feb 09, 2011 9:53 pm

Hey folks,
My first post, but I'll try not to be a total newbie.

I picked up a Magnavox Micromatic suitcase player about 6 months ago. It had no stylii, and I imagined one day I would take the time to replace them. The time has come, the only problem is that I cannot find exactly what stylii I need.

The player is a 1SC-230R, which seems to take a 352 needle. I've located what appear to be replacements on EBAY but only for the LP side, however nothing for the 78 side.
The crank on the cartridge has one side labeled "78" and one labeled "LPS". I removed the broken needles and one was marked "EV 3.f"

Any help?

It would be easier if you got the number(s) off the cartridge to make sure you find a corresponding stylus. Like below, is an Electro-Voice Model 275 with a Magnavox number of 560345. That helps to zero in on exactly what you need or find a suitable replacement. This is just an example, but this cartridge can accept several styli. The differences are slight, but they still work. I used to get mine from Radio Shack online for about $4.99 to $6.99. If you can post a pic, that would be great, too. There are many good folks here that will come to your aid. --BB

You probably have the EV-26 cartridge for that player unless someone changed it out. The needles you need are 352-S3 for 78 and 352-D7 for 33 and 45. I used to tell folks to go by gold or silver but that no longer holds true...if I recall it right. It came to haunt me. Nevertheless, any of the big Ebay sellers can fix you up.

P. S. It is an Aspen? R600 changer? Just curious.
