Hi Frank,
Lotsa ideas--might not be correct--- need more info to make any decisions-- Does the number coil energize ? Do ALL of the letters fail to work ? Did you check the letter coil 8/10 Amp Slow blow fuse ( or maybe a circuit breaker on that model ?) ? Does the "ring" stop-reverse ? Ron Rich

Frank, I don't have any specific data on that model, but I suggest looking inside the junction box for a light bulb. Earlier models used two #55's, but later boxes may have only one. If present, these were used as current limiters for the hammer coils.

Look for images of the junction box online and compare the positions and types of the relays.

Check all contacts on relays including the one in the credit unit (called Playrak".

There are electrolytic capacitors in the junction box. two will be for the AC search and the changer motors. If those motors run, the caps are probably still OK. Those will say "AC" on them. Any other electrolytic should be replaced.

Check the sliding and leaf contacts in the keyboard assembly for proper make-break action and continuity.

the amp --must-- be rebuilt for safe operation

Get a service manual and make sure it is for this specific model as the keyboard was a bit different than other models of that era.

The numbers work, I've checked the fuse, I've even taken the fuse out and it don't change anything. It does the same with the fuse in or out. I can pull a pin up and it will play. It only has the one bulb in the junction box and when I make a selection it will light up.

Hi Frank,
"How" did you "check the fuse"--what size/type is it ? Please answer the other questions also.

Hi Frank
OK--what size/type is it--you gotta answer our questions or we will "get no where" ! Please re-read the above and answer --Do you have the service manual as Rob, asked earlier ? Ron Rich

Ron it is a 8/10 fuse and it checks ok with an ohm meter, I don.t have a manual for the 2800 but I have one for the 2900 I would think they would be the same. I'm sorry but I don't know what you mean by the ring stop and reverse, it goes around and stops but it don't reverse. Thanks Frank

Hi Frank,
They are very close--should be the same in the ES area-- but as far as I know there wre two versions of the 2800--in the keyboard area, or operators intermixed two different keyboard into them and also in the play motor/speed control areas. Look in the manual--it shows a photo of the Stop switch and Reverse switch, for that selection ring.
Use an analog meter. to check those two switches, on the R times 1 scale. Sounds as if one is bad. Ron Rich
