Hi,

New to this board, after working on pinball machines as a hobby, now have the itch to become a Seeburg nut. I bought 2 STD 160s (2 & 3) for projects. After much reading on this board, and numerous manuals, have managed to get the 3 working nicely. I am having an issue with the selection lights. Some selection lights do not engage to show a selection, mostly in lower range, and intermittently. Ie 150 always lights appropriately, but 127 will show as 1 7, etc.

Is there a certain part or contact responsible for this that should be cleaned? When it scans, all lights work, and all bulbs were changed out on the selection bar.

Ps I am still waiting for my Ron Rich microlog manual in mail so I apologize if this is addressed in that document

Welcome !
The selection now playing lights consists of very simple, mechanical set of "wipers", and either a PC board, or rivet board that they wipe on ( earlier mechs use rivets--don't recall when they were changed). Adjustments for them are shown in the Service Manuals--BUT-IF, the phono was tilted on it's front, or back without the two shipping thumbscrews installed, the contacts will have been deformed. If they have not been "kinked" you can remove the PC/rivet section and "re-form" them.
If you have the PCB style, use caution, as when you remove the mounting screws, there will ( or should be) four black plastic "spacers" ( "washers") on the bottom side, that WILL fall into the cabinet, never to be found again ! These MUST be used, in order to make it work, correctly.

Thank you Ron, that is very helpful. Will try to get things going this weekend.

As a side question, I had 1 non-functioning horn speaker so I swapped out from my donor machine (which will be my next project) and read somewhere about a battery test for speakers? Do you know what is involved there? Hate to throw it out if I can repair and horn speakers for std series not abundant on ebay.

You are welcome.
Speakers can be "quick checked" with any 1.5 volt cell. Just connect one terminal of the speaker to either side of the cell, and "tap" the other terminal with the other side of the cell. You should hear a "pop" if good. Horns from any 160 selection model from the LS-2 will fit the STD models. One or more of the suppliers listed above, probably has them in stock. I also have some in stock, that I am willing to sell--PM me, if you wish. Ron Rich
