Rowe CD-PRO oddity

New to jukeboxes, so new to this site. I picked up three non-functional Rowe CD100 jukes (two H models and one G). Using the G for spare parts, along with a pair of purchased OP units for the cd players, I have the first G 100% functional and the second at 99%. The only problem left with the second is related to the CD PRO player:

It powers on, and makes a sound similar to a motor spinning, though I don't believe that's what is happening. Upon closer inspection, the OP is vibrating. It sinks down slightly, as though the magnet energizes and pulls it down. The sled motor never engages as the sled never attempts to index. I've verified that there is no binding on the sled or motor, it moves freely by hand (turning the screw gear on the motor's output shaft). I used one of the purchased OP assemblies to replace the OP and both motors (sled and turntable). This offered no resolution to the problem. I've checked continuity from the various motors back down the flex cable to the connector, and everything seems good (flex is not broken).

I moved the entire unit to the other juke, which is 100% functional, and the problem followed. So that narrows it down to the CD PRO unit itself. If I can provide any further information, I'm obviously happy to provide it.

The PRO and PRO2 use different optical pickup assemblies. Perhaps you have the wrong optical pickup?

We verified part numbers of the assemblies themselves prior to purchase. And this problem existed with the original, factory parts as well. I did, however, use that pinvan link as a reference when making the swap. I did the same pickup swap on the other CD100H, with the same model number donor (bought a two-pack), and it works like a dream.

To be 100% sure, I pulled the player out to check the part number. VAU 1252/10, so not a 2. Would there be an value in putting the other player's dead OP into this for testing? While it doesn't read discs, that player did not have this problem. Does anyone know if this sounds like a signal issue, perhaps the controller board doesn't index the sledge until it performs some other activity that may not be happening properly?

Check your settings in programming. There is a sled exercize #. Its all in the book.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I only have volume 1, wonder if Rowe still honors the mail-in card that came with the juke for a free volume 2 (came with one of them)

I did a complete factory reset, hoping there was some funky setting somewhere causing me grief. No dice. When you switch out of service mode, it does stop vibrating for a second, then starts again. I assume there is a momentary loss of power to the cd player during this time. Brought the other identical unit, also rebuilt from the same shipment of parts (pickup, etc) and tossed it in. Works like a champ with no other setting changes. So I'm beginning to think the controller board on the bottom of the CD PRO unit may be faulty. Does anyone know where I could get pieces like that, without shelling out for the entire unit?

Used ones for parts or rebuild are always for sale on the auction sites. Usually can pick one up for around $40 bucks.

That's what I've found, keeping my eyes open on that front. I am going to swap just the board from my functional player, to validate that's what it is. Though I see no way it could be anything else, since the only remaining component is the flex cable for the motors and that checks out fine using my meter.
