Americana III Model 3300

My wife just surprised me with this jukebox for Christmas that needs a little work, but sounds great, except maybe the left top speaker may be on its way out. She ordered me the manual and I have started doing some research into getting it up to snuff. The only thing that is readily apparent other than a new belt is that the automatic record changer is not working and you need to depress button in back of machine to change songs. Any advice or direction on how to proceed would be appreciated.

Hi Paul,
Welcome !
The thing you are having a problem with is called the "end of record-trip (off) switch".
I would suggest that you wait for your manual before "messing" with it ! This switch is "special", and NLA as far as I know. Hopefully, it's just out of adjustment--no one has attempted to "bend" the actuator. If you wish to not wait, it is behind the upper rear door, on the left top side. You might check that the wires are still connected tightly, but otherwise, as I said--wait--One other thing you might check is the switch on the amp that you are now using--check the the NC section is, in fact closed.
As for the speaker problem--I doubt it is a "speaker problem". It's much more likely, that it is an amp, or even needle/cartridge problem. Ron Rich

Thanks for the quick response. I am going to wait for the manual. As Dana's cleaning the inside, can I use compressed air? Any particular cleaning products to use/ stay away from?

For general cleaning, I spray "Mean Green" on a rag or paper towel to wipe the dirt/grime/nicotine off the machine.

I believe this model has one of the fluorescent light ballasts located directly above the amplifier and it leaks PCBs all over and into the amplifier so beware. I use lighter fluid to clean that gunk off.
