Advice for a novice with a project!

First things first, I know nothing about victrolas, phonographs, gramophones, etc, except that they are wonderful music reproducing machines of antiquity; So if I sound like I haven't a clue what I'm talking about, I don't!

I found this victrola while we were emptying my grandmother's basement- it looks rough but the crank still works & the table? still turns. I fell in love & insisted on keeping it but I haven't a clue what to do with it now- it clearly needs some attention but I don't even know where to began. I'd also really like to find out more about the model but all I have to go on is the name- Rishell, & the certainty that it is all original.

Any advice about how to proceed or insight into it's possible history would be greatly appreciated! I'm less interested in preserving it's value than enjoy it!
