Rowe r91 turntable running fast

by jordon » Thu Nov 26, 2015 5:19 pm

I have an Antique Apparatus copy of the Wurlitzer 1015 Jukebox
This Jukebox uses the R91 turntable. I haven't used the Jukebox in a while, but when I turned it on this morning, all of my selections were playing fast...not chipmunks fast, but about 10% faster than they should be...what do you think is wrong? is it as simple as a bad turntable motor? Other than that, the juke operates flawlessly...

Hi Jeff,

On your jukebox is the turntable motor pulley the type with the step in it ? could there be a build up of dirt on the pulley?

Check out the capactors on the turntable motor. Check the voltage going to the motor.

Please let us know how you get on, most people complain that jukebox turntable speeds are too low.

Regards
Alan

Alan,

The pulleys look fine...I know there should be a capacitor across the motor, but the part has the writing that says 4.7K on the first line, followed by 100 . and the infinity symbol on the 2nd line.

4.7K seems more like a resistor designation than a cap....

I'm temped to put a resostat inline to drop the voltage just enough to get the proper speed...

Hi Jeff,
Got the Service Manual-??-something in my head says that there were three different motors used in those models--and they hook up slightly differently- There was also something about doubling the cap size?? Sorry, I'm 3000 miles from my manuals--

Ron,

I have the service manual on my office computer. I won't be able to look at it until Monday..
