Freeplay back to coins

by edisonsclone » Tue Sep 23, 2008 5:18 am

I would just like to start off saying I am still a beginner in the jukebox world, so please bear with me. My rockola starlet was set on free play when I got it and I would like to set it back to coins. I was thinking I may have found the problem but that turned out to be a negative, I am now looking at the free play button located on the small unit at the bottom of the machine. Should I look for swapped wires? also when the coin switch is dissconnected it has no effect on the selection(so I am guessing the coin mech. is not getting any power) nothing seems out of the ordinary, any imput would be helpful
Thanks Matt

A few tips for you, and all "Newbies"---
Most of the "techs" that I know, will not know any coin op phono by the "sales name", but by the model number. Therefore when you say "Starlet", I, along with others have no idea what you have ! Second, You need a Service Manual, so that you can name that "small unit in the bottom of the machine", cause I have no idea what that thing could be. Third, you need a service manual to trace wiring, because, many things could have been done to place the phono on "free play". Fourth, one must remember that "coin operated phonographs" were designed as just that--"COIN operated", not designed to "play for free". Ron Rich

Funny you should say that, after I put up the question I considered almost all of what you said and then went and ordered a service and parts manual......Thanks anyway for responding

No problem--But, I think that I forgot to post the most important part--which is--After getting the proper manual(s), READ the darn thing(s) !!!!!- ---Ron Rich
