Rowe AMF Money Meter?

So while scanning through the manual, I saw a reference to a 'MAF Money Meter'. Searching online gives one relevant result, but no pictures. Anyone have any additional info on these? Be curious to get more info on these!

There was at least two in a box of "junk" that i took away from a shop on Tenth Ave as it closed. The cables had been cannibalized so I never did anything with them. They got traded with other stuff in 1993.

IIRC, Unlike Seeburg's version they did not produce a printout.

Interesting. So it did read out the amount in a currency format, apparently according to the images.

Know why there was a lock on it? Doesn't look like it held any actual cash.

This appears to be a copy of the Seeburg "Income Totalizer System (ITS). This was sold as an "anti-cheat" devise, and was locked with a key, to prevent cheating. The "owner" was supposed to keep the key, and not allow anyone else access to the meter--Seeburg's ITS did not produce a written form either, till they "invented" the "RITS", about 4 years later, and offered it as an option. With the LS-3 model, came the "DRITS"---Then with the SMC's, the MCU was wired for the"MRITS"--don't know if these ever were produced ?? Ron Rich

One of the reasons to have a money meter (perhaps the main reason? ) was to safeguard against dishonest employees. If a route man had access to the cash AND the money meter, he could possibly adjust the meter to cover his tracks. I have been told that the keys for money meters were kept in the office safe. Ray

Interesting - I've owned pins and vids on location before, but never jukeboxes, so something like this would have never occured to me.(*)

I'm guessing these aren't as common a thing as, say a stepper, right? It honestly looks interesting enough where I may be interested in having one, just to mess with.

(*) - I had one tech/collections guy, and once a month I WOULD go out to a random location and check the reading on a game.. So I can definately see it's usefulness.

Meters on Pins/vids are very "cheat-able"--these were designed not to be so easy to cheat -- but i have seen it done--

*Everything* is cheat-able in one way or another. The more I look at those ebay pics, the more I'm curious in getting one. I'm adding this to my wish-list..

Well I picked it up. The seller had some other parts I needed, and he stated that he'd sell me that linked money meter at a discount, so, I couldn't refuse. Got it yesterday, and while taking a break from working on the tone-arm issue, I plugged it in. Worked fine, and rather neat gizmo.

If anyone comes across a manual or papers for it, let me know. It's not counting $.05 properly, which my OCD needs to fix, even if I'm not using nickles at the moment. I'll get a picture of it installed in the juke, once it's up.
